• Dear Parents,

  

  I sincerely greet everyone with the hope that you remain in good health and

  peace of mind.

  We are going through difficult times, we are learning simply how to function

  these days because what we are experiencing is new to us all.

  

  Therefore, to home in on some of the uncertainty, I would like to inform you

  about the continuation of our school year.

  

  Active classes (requiring the student’s physical presence)

  at the St. John Paul II Polish School in Calgary are dismissed until

  the end of June 2020.

  

  ALL students will be promoted to the next class/ continue

  to the next level of education.

  

  In accordance to Alberta Education’s ordinance, final

  exams in diploma classes areCANCELEDin the 2019/2020 school

  year.

  

  Every student will receive, at the end of the year, their

  respectivecreditsandFinal Report(confirming the students’ study

  at Polish School) for this given year of study.

  

  As to how this happens every year, there are no changes, it is still the

  same process.

  

  UNDER ONE CONDITION!!!Continuing schooling at home – doing

  homework and sending it to teachers on a regular basis. Staying in

  touch with educators.

  

  The main basis for learning in the current situation are

  school textbooks, within which are exercises, which are owned by

  every student of our school.

  Teachers, within their means and situation at home, will be sending

  you additional exercises that can be printed at home. We ask here for

  understanding if your expectations about this process differ slightly

  from our current reality. These times are difficult for all of us.

  At the same time, we encourage students, with the help of parents

  and older siblings, to use the vast amounts of material found on the

  Internet (you will soon receive a list of resources from us).

  

  As we wish that our students feel the least amount of change

  from the current global health situation, we recommend that students in

  grades 0-9 devote a minimum of30 minutesa week to learning Polish at

  home.

  

  For students in credited classes, the minimum is60

  minutesa week.

  

  !!! As always, the basis of learning a language is touse it

  

  Therefore, conversations at home – only in Polish.

  Reading books – mostly in Polish.

  Watching films – also mostly in Polish (for younger kids ONLY in

  Polish).

  

  I send lots of big hugs to the students, please give them warm wishes

  from all the teaching staff, we miss them very much.
